[18th October 2019] Emerging singer-songwriter Alfreda stuns on enthralling new track ‘Anyone’.
‘Anyone’ echoes the greatness of slick early noughties club-pop blended with Alfreda’s unique melodic, sound and style. The track was co written in Berlin with Craig Walker (Archive) and produced with Thierry Fournié (Mineral) in Paris – its tender piano intro transforms into sophisticated pad synths and lounge chords. The subversive production of ‘Anyone’ mirrors the ups and downs of the stagnant love Alfreda depicts in the track’s emotional self-written lyrics.
Alfreda says: “‘Anyone’ is the lead single of a project that focuses on the different emotions and stances taken in an emotionally abusive, co-dependent relationship that met its expiry date long before the courage was found to end it. The song is from a place of acceptance as both parties have a mutual understanding that while it isn’t working, it’s better than nothing.”
With influences from Amy Winehouse, Roisin Murphy, Lana Del Rey and Janelle Monáe to David Bowie, Radiohead, and Frank Ocean - Alfreda’s confessional songwriting style is rooted in her New York City upbringing. She later moved to Sussex, UK prompting Alfreda to experiment with music software and recording her own songs. Finally moving to London aged sixteen to pursue music full-time, Alfreda dedicated this time to building her live shows throughout the city. After Craig Walker introduced Alfreda to the Berlin music scene, she got to know many new producers and songwriters which has helped develop her own distinctive production style of elegant, high-class pop, working with the likes of: Tyler Pope (LCD Soundsystem) and Knox Chandler (Lou Reed, Siouxsie and the Banshees), and producers Victor van Vugt (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey) and Jan van Der Toorn (Outkast, Snoop Dogg). Alfreda now splits her time between London and Berlin.
Alfreda attributes her fascination with storytelling fashion to her late godmother Isabella Blow, whose influence in the fashion industry includes propelling the careers of milliner Philip Treacy and Alexander McQueen.
