Hailing from Glasgow, Tommy Reilly found his voice in the city’s thriving music scene. Inspired by the diverse artists around him, Tommy has crafted an individual lyrical style, honing his songs on the open mic scene while studying at Glasgow University. He has gone on to win a nationwide music competition, score a top 20 single, a Scottish number one, and perform across Europe and the US.
A prolific artist, Tommy has produced three full albums to date and his new EP “Weightless”. Since earning his break winning the Channel 4 Orange Unsigned Act competition, Tommy has worked with producers such as Bernard Butler (Duffy, The Courteeners), Paul Savage (Arab Strap, Mogwai) and friend and fellow songwriter Roddy Hart (Radio Scotland), to create a catalogue of powerful and affecting songs.
Over the course of touring these records; “Words on the Floor (2009)”, “Hello I’m Tommy Reilly (2010) and “Waking a Sleepwalker (2013)”, Tommy has played alongside acts such as Frightened Rabbit, The Proclaimers and Justin Currie as well as embarking on several headline tours of his own across the UK and Ireland. Festival performances to date include Glastonbury, Rockness, Loveboxx, T in the Park, Celtic Connections and SXSW festival in Austin Texas. Honing his act over the years has shaped Tommy into an engaging and skilled live performer.
After the intensity of writing and touring his first three LPs, Tommy took a year away from music to complete a Masters in Sound For the Moving Image at the Glasgow School of Art. With a renewed enthusiasm and a fresh perspective on his music Tommy is returning to support the release of his long awaited new record, the seven track EP “Weightless”, with an extensive tour of Germany and the UK in autumn 2015.
Tommy was nominated for BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards 2016.
Tommy’s music has always had a strong pop sensibility and writing engaging melodies and honest lyrics is what he has always sought to achieve with his music. A prolific writer and captivating live performer, Tommy Reilly is going to keep on doing what he does best; writing great songs.
